Ukrainians in Slovenia celebrated Vyshyvanka Day

On May 23, Ukrainians in Slovenia and our friends celebrated Vyshyvanka Day in the center of Ljubljana!

The "Razom" Association organized this celebration together with community members and volunteers, and it turned out to be truly awesome. Special thanks to the driving force behind this event, Olena Molchanova.

We wore our embroidered shirts to show everyone our traditional clothing and culture. We served treats, poured cherry liqueur, held a quiz about Ukraine, handed out informational materials, and collected donations.

The kids had a particularly good time — they made motanka dolls with us, answered questions about Ukraine and received prizes, had their faces painted with cute designs, and enjoyed candies from their homeland.

Then we marched in a festive procession through the center of Ljubljana, joined by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Slovenia, Mr. Petro Beshta, along with his wife Anna and staff members from the Ukrainian Embassy. We stopped at New Square, and our two choirs—"Drevo Voly" and "Lyubystok"—sang heartfelt Ukrainian songs. This attracted the attention of passersby, among whom was even Slovenia’s First Gentleman, Mr. Aleš Musar.

Interestingly, for the first time in Ljubljana, we held a dance flash mob to the song “Hey, Falcons.”

We wrapped up the event with a group photo to remember the occasion.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped: volunteers, community members, everyone who organized the event and its cultural program, prepared treats, printed flyers, brought items for donations, and donated their time, funds, or handmade crafts. Each of you contributed to this celebration. Thanks to you, more and more people in Slovenia are getting to know Ukraine.

Together, we made this a truly wonderful celebration!
