Our association Razom was the first in Slovenia to introduce the Ukrainian vertep — an ancient Christmas tradition that combines theater, music, and folk customs. The premiere performances took place simultaneously in several cities: Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje and Postojna, drawing a large audience and giving viewers a true taste of the atmosphere of Ukrainian winter holidays.
We are truly delighted that our association was able to launch this important cultural initiative in Slovenia. We extend special gratitude to our lead director—poet and visionary Valentina Lavrinchuk—thanks to whom this warm and enchanting performance became a reality.
Thank you to all the artists who joined the project, poured their hearts into it, and filled the performances with vivid imagery and sincere emotions.
The audience had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Ukrainian traditions of celebrating the winter cycle—from St. Nicholas Day to Christmas and Malanka. The program featured carols and New Year’s songs, brought folk legends to life, and recreated evening gatherings, fortune-telling, and ritual customs.
After the performances, all guests could sample traditional Ukrainian dishes — kutia, kalachi, varenyky, and other festive treats—which made the atmosphere even more homely and unifying.
